Two teams already destined to watch the postseason back at home, the Falcons will drive through the desert to battle against the Cardinals in Week 17 of NFL action. Similar to several NFC South teams, the Falcons were set to have a chance at the playoffs with chances being reasonably high if they managed to play well. However, Atlanta has gone into a 4 game losing streak, basically ending any sort of scenario that puts them into the playoffs.
Week 16’s 17-9 loss versus the Baltimore Ravens showcased the true weakness of Atlanta, which will need to be taken care of for the 2023 season, the defense definitely needs some improvement. Normally the Falcons were able to holdout games and take a win, but through the later stages of the season, a big play or uninspired coverage have led to losses. In a general sense, outside of CB A.J. Terrell, Atlanta should look to improve all areas of the team.
Another drawback is the quarterback situation. Youngster QB Desmond Ridder is still rather shaky on the big stage, however, drafting him in the 3rd round will give Atlanta more time to find the right piece for the team. The rushing attack that head coach Arthur Smith has implemented is one of the best in the league to be fair, and an experienced quarterback could push the Falcons into the stratosphere.
Taking a look at Arizona, head coach Kliff Kingsbury is definitely at the chopping block for next season. With Nathaniel Hackett’s recent sack in Denver, Kingsbury has somehow maintained his spot at the helm in Arizona.
With QB Kyler Murray out for the season with a torn ACL, the Cardinals are on the edge of a tough 5 game losing streak.
It was a tough season for both sides, however we will take a Falcons win on this one.
