Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season goes on Sunday, with the AFC West showdown from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas where the Raiders look for their fifth consecutive victory over the Denver Broncos. The Denver Broncos improved to 2-1 straight up on the season following an 11-10 home victory over the San Francisco 49ers, while the Las Vegas Raiders fell to the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday.
The Raiders were listed as small 2-point road favorites, but they trailed the Titans for all 60 minutes and didn’t deserve to get anything from a tough Week 3 matchup. They held Tennessee off the scoreboard in the second half, and it wasn’t enough.
“I’m looking for us to try to improve and play a full 60-minute game, where we actually start well, play well in all three phases, see what that looks like,” Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels said. “I’m not sure that we’ve done that yet.”
The 29-year-old wideout Mack Hollins had the best game of his professional career in Nashville, racking up 158 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions. Derek Carr completed just 26 of his 44 passing attempts, finishing with 303 yards, a couple of touchdowns, and an interception, while Davante Adams caught five of his ten targets for 36 yards and a TD.
The Broncos had 33 carries for 101 yards against the Niners’ sturdy run D. Melvin Gordon scored a TD but also fumbled twice while averaging just 2.2 yards per rush. Javonte Williams added 58 yards on 15 totes, while Courtland Sutton caught eight of his ten targets for 97 yards.
Denver’s offense has struggled mightily through the first three weeks, averaging 14.3 points per game (31st in the NFL) on 230.3 passing yards (18th) and 117.7 rushing yards. At least their defense has been outstanding so far, allowing 12.0 points per game (2nd in the NFL) on 170.0 passing yards (3rd) and 81.3 rushing yards (6th).
