The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a crushing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but this is their chance to bounce back against the Houston Texans in Week 5. It’s true that the Jaguars haven’t had much success against Houston lately but it looks like that could change.
Last year the Texans beat Jacksonville, but currently have a 0-3-1 record and are arguably the worst team in the NFL. On the other hand the Jaguars have a 2-2 record and are considerably better than last year.The last time the Jaguars beat Houston, Bill O’Brien was the head coach when Deshaun Watson was just a rookie.
Last season, two of the Texans’ four wins came against the Jaguars. Even though they weren’t much better than Jacksonville, they didn’t make as much improvement as the Jaguars did in the offseason.
Houston’s rookie class is promising, led by running back Dameon Pierce. Kenyon Green is expected to be a mainstay on the offensive line for years to come.
On the other hand, the Texans are making changes as they lack difference makers in most position groups. Quarterback Davis Mills has not stood out and has not improved as much as Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence turned the ball over five times against the Eagles. On the other hand, the Jaguars should have their wide receiver Zay Jones, who was lost last week, back. All indications are that Lawrence will not have it easy in this match, but this match could tell us a lot about the progress he has made. Will he be up to the challenge?
Simply put, the Jaguars have more talent and a better coach than the Texans. Although coach Doug Pederson, who doesn’t underestimate anyone, Houston might pull off an upset in this game. No doubt it will be an interesting game to watch.
