Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears: Predictions & Preview 1/08/2022

Game Preview

After losing to Green Bay, the Vikings lost their chance to earn the NFC’s top seed heading into Week 18. With a victory and a 49ers loss, they may still place second in their conference. The Bears are currently on a nine-game losing streak and have the second-worst record in the league. Chicago would hold the #1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft with one more loss and a victory by the Texans.

NFL analysts have devoted a big amount of effort this season trying to figure out who the Vikings really are. Are they really deserving of their stellar track record? Should they be considered just overachievers? Should they be thought of as Super Bowl contenders?

At this point in the season, we still don’t have the answers to those important questions regarding the 2022 Vikings team. Sure, they have 12 victories so far this season, and they achieved that amazing total thanks to some clutch plays, however, Minnesota also suffered several notable defeats that give this roster little hope.

And now, a 12-win team competing for the NFC’s No. 2 seed is only a slight favorite over a 3-13 Bears team with a talent-deficient squad. This week, we should see Minnesota play their starters and try to win convincingly to gain momentum going into the postseason.

For Chicago, their starting QB has continued to make outstanding progress. As a playmaker at the position this season, Justin Fields has been exceptional, and he consistently produces highlight-reel plays.

Fields now ranks second among quarterbacks in terms of rushing yards in a season with 1,143 after another strong performance against the Lions in Week 17. In Week 18 against the Vikings, he will have a chance to surpass Lamar Jackson’s 1,206-yard record for all-time rushing yards, which he is just 64 yards away from.

Even though Fields has been a dominant force on the offense, the rest of his team isn’t showing an effort to support him. Chicago entered this campaign with the goal of flipping the roster, so there isn’t much top-tier talent left to talk about as the Bears prepare for their final game of the year.
