New York Giants vs Tennessee Titans: Picks & Predictions 6/17/2022

June 17, 2022

There was a time in the beautiful land of pro football where everyone thought Saquon Barkley, RB for the New York Giants was going to be the best all-around back in the league for years to come, but then Tennessee’s RB Derrick Henry said “hold my Gatorade and give me the ball”. After having missed the majority of the 2021 season because of an injury that sidelined him up until the playoffs, Titans RB Derrick is finally coming back and he’s doing it with a massive chip on his shoulder. And now, with a week 1 matchup against the Giants at home in Tennessee, it seems like there’s no better time than right now for Henry and the Titans to start their quest to once again dominate the AFC South division and for Henry to claim his throne as the best running back in the NFL.

Game Preview

The Tennessee Titans had quite the offseason, where they traded off their start receiver A.J. Brown over to the Eagles, while they still wait to see what will end up happening with Julio Jones, their other star receiver who is more than likely to not be returning to the Titans this upcoming season. Still, with the addition of rookie receiver star Treylon Burks and the return of Derrick Henry to run the offense once again, all signs point towards there being some sort of calmness within the Titans organization.

Still though, with a new season and a healthy Henry up on deck, it’s more than obvious that once again, the Titan’s offense will most likely be a run-driven one, which is where the Giants, who amongst other moves added college defensive star Kavyon Thibodeaux to try and bring their defense up to par, will have to focus their main strategy if they wish to be able to start the season with a very valuable road win against one of the tougher opponents coming out of the AFC.

But for New York, stopping Tannehill, Henry and Tennessee’s offense will only be a part of the job, as they will be in dire needs of QB Daniel Jones to truly take control of the offense and start showing left and right why he is still being considered as the top candidate to continue being the franchise’s QB for the future. A big help will be coming from the addition of former Alabama offensive line all-star Evan Neal who could end up being New York’s biggest help on offense, especially when dealing against Tennessee’s defensive line, that while not elite, can still throw down quite well.

With a healthy Derrick Henry and a much better QB in Ryan Tannehill than Daniel Jones, it’s not hard to lean towards a Titans win in week 1 to start off the season in the best way possible
