It seems as if the Philadelphia Eagles are officially over the fact that Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys continue to run the NFC East division, even if it’s in one of the most mediocre ways possible. Signs of this were shown last year after Philadelphia, led by a great Jalen Hurts at QB, managed to turn their abysmal season around into becoming one of the best teams in the league, all led by one of the best rushing attacks around the division and conference. Now, with the 2022 season upon us, for the Eagles the mission is very clear, not only making it to the playoffs, but making it to the playoffs by winning the NFC East divisional title.
With the help of a decent to good defense and an offense with the likes of A.J. Brown and Devonta Freeman at the receiver core and a Jalen Hurts that wants to use this season to catapult his status as one of the best, up and coming young QB’s in the NFC, for Philadelphia dealing against a defense as physical and rough as Detroit’s will certainly be a great test to truly see how much this team will be willing to take in the season if they want to win constantly. On offense at least, the Eagles are clear favorites to take the game, so it will be up to Hurts and company to show that all the preseason hype surrounding them was worth the push.
You can take the Detroit Lions either for the bottom-feeding team they continue to be as time continues to go by, or you can take them as one of the most intriguing rebuilding projects going on in the NFL. Dan Campbell has managed to make a group of up and coming talents into one of the teams with the most upside for the foreseeable future, that is if Campbell is given enough time to continue working the roster and improving it.
With the addition of former Michigan standout defender Aidan Hutchinson to the defense, as well as former Alabama WR Jameson Williams to the offense the Lions continue to improve on all sides of the ball, adding young, explosive players that will surely become team leaders as their careers progress. Still, while a win against the Eagles is not something in anybody’s plans, good things should be expected out of this Lions team.
