On the one hand you have a team that is expected to be one of the top contenders for playoff contention and even a spot in Super Bowl LVII, on the other hand you have the Chicago Bears. If you’re the San Francisco 49ers then you know by heart that this season needs to start off with as many wins as possible, especially considering how fierce the competition for a playoff spot in the AFC West and the AFC in itself will be. The 49ers, while having one of the best and most rounded out teams in the conference still have to deal with having the Cardinals, Rams, Packers, Buccaneers, Saints, Cowboys and Eagles to deal with in order to make sure that their playoff aspirations are held intact. It’s a good thing that the Niners have been hard at work during this offseason trying to maintain the base of their team intact, with keeping WR Deebo Samuel as their most important move, all while waiting to see what will happen out of the Trey Lance vs. Jimmy G competition for the starting QB position.
This team is a machine on defense, their offensive line is one of the best around, even after seeing Laken Tomlinson leave for the New York Jets, and on offense, well either with Lance or Garoppolo, this team can run rounds around any defense in the league in any given week if they so wish to do. So what should the Bears do in order to try and stop the Niners? Holding on tight and praying for the best would be a good start, because all signs point towards San Francisco leaving Soldier Field with a commanding win to get the season rolling.
For Justin Fields and Chicago, the learning curve they’ll have to deal with from early on in the season will surely give plenty to talk about moving forward, especially if you take into account how many holes this team has throughout all lines in their roster. Fields will have a very bad day against the Niners defense, especially with how meager Chicago’s offensive line is looking like entering the season. While Fields will shine throughout the season, don’t expect a Bears win in week 1.
