Game Preview
Leicester City
Leicester City is one of the overwhelming favorites to lose this season even if they won the Championship. This is mostly because Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, a vital midfield player, and manager Enzo Maresca were traded to Chelsea. The Foxes have signed Caleb Okoli and Bobby De Cordova-Reid and made Issahaku Fatawu’s loan from Sporting CP permanent. But their hopes of surviving and regaining their position as a Premier League force are seriously being harmed by their lack of summer spending power. Although Nottingham Forest and the Toffees both made it through this season, Leicester appears less likely to, particularly if they are struck hard and given negative points.

Southampton
You get the impression Southampton has a better chance of surviving this time around than Leicester because they were more busy in the transfer market. A lot will depend on whether Adam Armstrong can establish himself as a Premier League forward at last for the Saints. The former Newcastle player scored 24 goals in the previous campaign, but in 68 top-flight games, he had only four goals in the past. Saints have lost three games in a row since their comeback.
Ipswich Town
The Tractor Boys’ spectacular ascension from League One to the Premier League in just two years begs the question of if all of this is too much, too soon, but this is where the fairytale ends. There have been some additions to the team, most notably Omari Hutchinson and Liam Delap. They are not going to give up and will probably try to make it through, but they still lack a lot of things, not the least of which is elite level experience, and things are only going to get more serious from now on.
