Group B at the 2022 FIFA World Cup offers up arguably some of the most mouthwatering matchups of the whole tournament in Qatar, with the United States and England headlining what promises to be a fascinating pool.
England has one of the most promising squads in recent World Cup history, with a lot of their players in their prime. However, the English team has to demonstrate that they’re different than other England teams in the past that have had huge individual names but have done nothing collectively.
USA returns to the big stage after missing the 2018 World Cup and they do so with one of their best generations in history. Names such as Serginho Dest, Antonee Robinson, Weston McKennie, Yunus Musah, Gio Reyna, Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah will try to take the US farther than ever before in the World Cup. USA’s amazing job in their youth squads is finally paying off and will definitely be a team to watch during the World Cup.
Iran has only missed two World Cups in the 21st century (2002 and 2010) which speaks very good about their football federation. However, they’ve never made it past the group stage in any of their participations. Russia 2018 was their best World Cup, finishing in 18th place, after 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw.
Finishing off the group is Wales, who qualified for their second World Cup in history after making it to the quarterfinal round in Sweden 1958. The Welsh team will try to take a swing at their neighbor England and at the USA, however, it seems unlikely that they’ll qualify to the knockout round, as England and the USA are set to be in the final 16 round.
