World Cup holders France face a manageable, and familiar, group as they seek to defend their title in Qatar. The draw has pitted the world champions against Denmark and Tunisia, as well as intercontinental playoff winner Australia.
The world champions are once again big favorites to win the World Cup, as they maintain their player base regarding the 2018 World Cup. Australia was one of the last teams to qualify to Qatar, as they defeated Peru in the June playoffs in Doha. The Socceroos haven’t missed a World Cup since Korea-Japan 2002 and their best participation was a round of 16 qualification in Germany 2006. They’ve been eliminated in the group stage ever since then.
Tunisia is getting ready for their 6th World Cup and will be eager to try to reach the round of 16 stage, as they’ve never passed the group stage in any of their participations. They were ranked 24th place in Russia 2018.
This is going to be an exciting group, with France being the favorite, all the other 3 squads have a chance of fighting for that second slot in the round of 16 stage.
