Jessica Andrade and Tatiana Suarez are two top contenders in the UFC’s strawweight division, so their high-stakes co-headliner in Nashville this weekend will be one of their most significant fights yet.
Jessica Andrade needs no introduction for MMA fans; the former UFC Champion and top-10-ranked strawweight, Jessica Andrade is a long-standing veteran who has competed in every major promotion worldwide for over 10 years – becoming one of the fan favorites with her legendary durability and fighting spirit in the Octagon. Andrade hopes to end a two-fight losing streak following losses against Valentina Shevchenko (strawweight) and Erin Blanchfield (flyweight).
Andrade enters this weekend’s bout against unbeaten American Tatiana Suarez as a heavy favorite, boasting superior striking attacks and grappling defense, with multiple finishers under her belt already and poised for a title shot should she continue her winning ways.
At UFC 288, Andrade defeated Montana De La Rosa by guillotine choke in the second round at UFC 288; she had earlier lost to Yan Xiaonan and Erin Blanchfield during fights held at that weight class.
Andrade will need to maintain an effective strike volume while limiting Suarez’s attempts at takedowns and successful landings, as well as using her powerful striking to put Suarez off-balance and land significant strikes close range.

Since making the jump she has averaged more than six takedown attempts per minute with an impressive 66% success rate on those attempts. Furthermore, Tatiana Suarez is also an exceptional striker, scoring three of her four knockouts since joining.
Suarez is an overwhelming favorite to defend her unbeaten record against Andrade in this bout, but she won’t have an easy task of it. Andrade boasts four inches in both height and reach advantages over Suarez while possessing superior defensive stats: 5.40 significant strikes per minute in defense as well as stopping 49% of takes against her from her opponent.
