This weekend’s co-main event of UFC Fight Night 226 from the Accor Arena in Paris, France, pits Manon Fiorot against the returning Rose Namajunas. Fiorot, the number two flyweight, hopes to make Namajunas’ entry into the class a nightmare in order to boost her own reputation.
Manon Fiorot is currently ranked as the No. 2 flyweight fighter in the world and has a career record of 10-1. Since joining the UFC in 2019, Fiorot has defeated Victoria Leonardo and Tabatha Ricci by knockout, and she has also defeated Mayra Bueno Silva and Jennifer Maia by decision. Fiorot won a unanimous decision over Kaitlyn Chookagian in her most recent bout, and she looked terrific while doing it.
Fiorot is a striker with a black belt in Karate and extensive experience as an amateur in Muay Thai. She successfully blocks 71% of her opponent’s important strikes and scores 1.69 takedowns at a 50% success rate, for a total of 6.58 per minute. She has a size and height advantage over her opponent and has won six of her 10 fights by knockout.
With a record of 12-5, Rose Namajunas is a two-division champion in the strawweight division. Namajunas is a prominent fighter at strawweight and has been for a long time. She has notable victories over Zhang Weili, Jessica Andrade, and Joanna Jedzejczyk. Namajunas failed miserably in her most recent fight, losing to Carla Esparza at UFC 274.
Namajunas is a striker like Fiorot, but she also has the ability to create on the ground when the situation calls for it. She is able to fight off 60% of attacks while landing 3.66 significant ones each minute. Namajunas has identical ground statistics to Fiorot (1.61 takedowns at 57% accuracy), but he has five more submission victories. She hasn’t fought in about 16 months, and this will be her first fight at flyweight.
