UFC on ESPN 52 will take place this Saturday from Austin’s Moody Center with two 155-pound fights featuring evenly-matched fighters. One such bout features veteran Clay Guida taking on Joaquim Silva in a lightweight contest pitting their respective best striker against each other’s top grappler.
From his 2006 debut, Clay Guida (38-23) holds a 18-17 record within the UFC. Fans still believe that his remarkable career has no end in sight, making him one of the most famous figures in the sport. Since 2015, Joaquim Silva (12-4) maintains a 5-4 record within the UFC. Silva had some early success in his career, but in his most recent 6 fights, he has gone 2-4 and been submitted three times via TKO.
Guida and Silva are fairly evenly matched when it comes to height, weight, and reach. Guida stands five feet seven inches and weighs in at 155 pounds while Silva stands five inches eight inches but tips the scales at the same weight, both fighters also boast 70-inch reach capabilities.

Guida recently scored a unanimous decision win against Rafa Garcia. That contest featured multiple early striking exchanges, with Guida’s ability to control proceedings from outside being instrumental. Guida landed 141 of 289 total strikes; 33% of which were significant strikes landed by Guida.
Silva, on the other hand, has proven more adept at striking from distance than Tsarukyan in their most recent bout, landing 78 of 115 significant strikes during a rematch and landing fight-ending punches from mount position in round 3.
While both fighters possess impressive offensive stats, Silva stands out with impressive defensive statistics. The southpaw successfully blocked 61% of significant strikes while also stopping takedown attempts 58% of the time.
Silva is considered a slight favorite in this fight. Though Silva could end up landing more strikes, his ability to keep Guida at bay could lead him to victory.
