For a 27-year-old, Morgan Charriere’s MMA resume outside of the UFC is impressive. He had been on the UFC’s radar for some time after winning the Cage Warriors featherweight title. This weekend in Paris, France, he’ll face Manolo Zecchini and get to walk to the octagon in front of his adoring fans.
Outside of the UFC, Charriere is among the best featherweight prospects. Before losing a split decision to Jordan Vucenic, he was the Cage Warriors featherweight champion. Since then, he has gone 3-1 with two consecutive stoppage victories leading up to his UFC debut against Manolo Zecchini of Italy.
When he makes his UFC debut, Manolo Zecchini will be one of only a handful of Italian fighters on the roster. He has spent the most of his mixed martial arts career competing in the Italian MMA regional circuit, most recently for Venator FC, where he has won both of his bouts via knockout. When Zecchini faces Morgan Charriere this weekend at UFC Paris, he will be hoping to make a name for himself with a knockout victory.
Right behind Marvin Vettori is Zecchini and he will become the UFC’s second Italian competitor. For his entire MMA career, Zecchini has competed only for Venator FC, Italy’s premier promotion. Like many other Italian UFC competitors, he is a big hitter. Nine of his eleven wins came via knockout, which will be crucial against a tough opponent like Morgan Charriere.
These two lightweight newcomers are ready to throw down. Charriere and Zecchini can each knock each other out, thus the winner will be determined by who lands the first severe punch. In this bout, Charriere is more focused on obtaining the knockout than Zecchini is. He’s never been knocked out in his professional career, making him extremely tough to defeat.
