Prediction and Analysis: Brown vs Salikhov 02/03/2024

Game Preview

Fight Preview

UFC will feature an exciting welterweight fight between Randy Brown and Muslim Salikhov that had originally been scheduled for December, but had to be postponed due to Brown’s illness.

Brown appears to be the dominant fighter here due to his reach and striking volume, making this fight an intriguing spectacle.

Though Salikhov can be an effective striker, his style often leaves him open to counters and takedowns due to a lack of speed, timing, cardio training, acrobatics or reckless confidence attacks that lead to gas tank issues.

When striking with deliberate intent, however, the King of Kung Fu is an extremely potent force. He can pick apart opponents with spinning attacks and capture overaggressive opponents in vulnerable positions. Additionally, he’s a capable grappler capable of using powerful trip and body lock takedowns; these have proven themselves four out of his last five fights.

After losing to rising contender Jack Della Maddalena in a UFC outing, Brown rebounded with a commanding performance against Wellington Turman in his most recent bout. Coming into this fight with an eight-inch reach advantage over Salikhov and looking to pepper him with jabs throughout, as well as being equipped with an effective leg game and using teep kicks or other attacks to complement his jab.

Both fighters have struggled to score knockouts in the past, yet both possess the power to land clean blows that could end this fight early in the second half. Judges will face an extremely difficult decision here.

It’s difficult to gameplan versus Salikhov because of his unique striking style, which is where Brown may occasionally suffer in this upcoming fight. Salikhov may be able to deliver a heavy blow on Brown and end the fight before the final bell if he can keep the battle at a distance where he can use his deadly kicks.
