Prediction and Analysis: Dober vs Silva July 13, 2024

Drew Dober vs Jean Silva Fight Preview

Denver’s Drew Dober is making his homecoming against Brazil’s Jean Silva in the Lightweight Division at UFC Denver. This article contains the most in depth martial arts analysis out there.

Jean Silva Analysis: Stepping in for Mike Davis

Mike Davis withdrew a few weeks earlier after ripping his bicep. Jean Silva (13-2) takes his place. Just two weeks earlier at UFC 303, he defeated Charles Jourdain via knockout. Despite missing the 145-pound featherweight cut, he produced his best performance to date and extended his winning run to 10 bouts, including his UFC debut first-round knockout of Westin Wilson. Making the most of his debut at UFC 303, Jean Silva defeated veteran fighter Charles Jourdain with a spectacular knockout. In less than ninety seconds, Jean Silva barely took a hit as he moved forward and applied pressure, deflecting the majority of Jourdain’s strikes. After a while, Silva connected with a stunning uppercut to take advantage of a PPV card. The UFC knew they could rely on Jean Silva to fill in for Mike Davis in the short term due to an injury.

Drew Dober Analysis: Comes from a tough loss against Renato Moicano

Drew Dober (27-13(1)) is coming off a difficult defeat at UFC Fight Night 235 in February via majority decision to Renato Moicano. His previous five fights had all ended by knockout, thus this was an unusual final bell. He laid Bobby Green, Rafael Alves, and Terrance McKinney to rest before Matt Frevola gave him a taste of his own medicine. He answered by defeating Ricky Glenn by first-round TKO before falling to Moicano, and he currently has a 13–9 UFC record. Even though Dober lost his most recent fight to Renato Moicano, one of the most potent finishers in the Lightweight Division, he was able to force a decision and have moments of his own throughout. His chin remains an abnormality, and this bout might need him to test it once more. Although his opponent is a very dangerous fighter in his own right, Dober has considerably more experience fighting in the UFC cage and has fought a stronger opponent record.
