Fight Preview
Aliaskhab Khizriev will make his second UFC appearance when he takes on Makhmud Muradov in a Middleweight contest in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 3, 2024.
Khizriev has emerged from his career undefeated to date, notching 14 wins thus far. A well-rounded fighter who’s shown his versatility by recording five victories via knockout and four via submission; his grappling abilities stand out particularly prominently due to chain wrestling techniques he excels in along with working from both ends of the cage.
Khizriev hails from Russia and his standup may not be as refined as some of his peers, but it still manages to inflict damage and set up takedowns effectively. Utilising low kicks, head kicks and knee stomps he is able to control opponents from his feet with his powerful arsenal of moves such as low kicks, head kicks and knee stomps he has the upper hand on opponents from their feet.
Khizriev has proven himself an exceptional boxer, having knocked out 5 opponents using striking alone. On his back foot, Khizriev uses active movement to open doors for counterattacks.
Khizriev defeated Denis Tiuliulin via second-round rear naked choke. He landed 54 of 94 total strikes during this fight – including 42 significant ones; 31 of those hits landed to Khizriev’s opponent’s head. This performance marked Khizriev as a top contender.
Khizriev faces an experienced wrestler in Muradov in this crucial test for his development as an up-and-comer. Although Khizriev’s grappling has been impressive thus far, we will need to wait and see how it fares against more formidable opposition – especially since Muradov is known as a powerful striker who can wear down fighters over long bouts. Khizriev must therefore keep this bout at distance and avoid early takedown attempts so as to improve his chances of landing a fight with an experienced opponent before moving onto other opportunities such as earning fights with higher ranked opponents in the future.
