Tracy Cortez Analysis: Stepping up for Maycee Barber
Tracy Cortez (11-1) was set to compete against Miranda Maverick at the UFC Apex the following week, but after Rose Namajunas and Maycee Barber’s main event was canceled, Cortez was called up for the biggest match of her career. This weekend at UFC Denver, Cortez will face Rose Namajunas in her initial UFC main event, putting her lengthy victories streak on the line. Tracy Cortez became well-known after defeating fellow UFC flyweight Mariya Agapova during her debut on the Contender Series in 2019. When she faces Rose Namajunas this weekend in Denver, Colorado, she will be making a sudden and significant step up in competition in an attempt to secure the greatest victory of her career. She is a perfect 5-0 in her UFC career.
Rose Namajunas Analysis: Looking to be a contender for the title again
Rose Namajunas (12-6) attempted to move up in weight after her strange title defeat to Carla Esparza by facing Manon Fiorot, a potential title challenger, whom she lost by a relatively tight decision. But in her maiden flyweight main event, Namajunas defeated Amanda Ribas by unanimous decision, marking her first victory in a new weight class. When she fights top contender Tracy Cortez this weekend in Denver, Colorado, she will be trying to resume her winning ways in order to maybe earn a shot at the title. Rose Namajunas, the former strawweight champion, triumphed in her first-ever flyweight division match, putting her back in the winner’s column at last. She was able to control Amanda Ribas for the better part of their main event bout, winning via unanimous decision.
