Alonzo Menifield Analysis: Looking to cement his name
With merely a draw versus Jimmy Crute, whom he overcame just five months later, Alonzo Menifield (15-3-1) has now won four of his previous five fights. This weekend at UFC St. Louis, Menifield will be seeking to make it five straight wins when he faces Carlos Ulberg of City Kickboxing. Menifield is coming off the greatest win of his career over Dustin Jacoby. Alonzo Menifield is beginning to resemble the fighter that many anticipated he would be when he first entered the UFC. With the exception of a draw against Jimmy Crute, whom he outclassed and finished in their rematch, he has now won five of his previous six bouts.
Carlos Ulberg Analysis: Only one defeat
Carlos Ulberg (9-1) is having a fantastic run of his own. When Kennedy Nzechukwu (2021) knocked him out in his UFC debut, fans were bound to write him off. To disprove his skeptics, he went on to defeat Fabio Cherant (2022), knock out Tafon Nchukwi (2022), Nicolae Negumereanu (2022), and Ihor Potieiria (2023) before submitting Da Un Jung again at UFC 293. This style combination is intriguing. This seems like it will be a very exciting striking clash on paper. Ulberg is the more skilled and technically proficient striker, although they are both incredibly dangerous while moving around and have tremendous knockout power. When Menifield erupts, Ulberg can snipe counters and use leg kicks and his jab to take him apart.
