Fight Preview
The UFC is an elite fighting organization that attracts some of the greatest fighters in the world. On this weekend’s card at Apex Las Vegas, one of the more notable fights will be between Philipe Lins and Ion Cutelaba in the Light Heavyweight division.
Both fighters possess the potential to end their fight with a knockout, possessing an excellent blend of striking and grappling skills with both right hands, while boasting tremendous power in them. Cutelaba may be more effective with his striking, which allows him to more frequently initiate takedowns than Lins. This should make for an exciting matchup.
Lins recently scored an impressive win against Maxim Grishin and looks to extend that streak with a win against Cutelaba, while the Moldovan hopes for an emphatic finish and get back on the right path with this path.
The 38-year-old boasts an outstanding career record of 17-5 in combat sports. Having competed for over 10 years and various organizations, including being PFL Heavyweight Champion and showing an ability to fight on his feet (nine out of his 18 wins were via knockout), his record speaks for itself.
He is an incredible mixed martial artist and has proven that he can dominate in any division. An intelligent fighter who knows how to read his opponents and use their strengths against them; an aggressive striker that utilizes his size for maximum impact; a very dangerous fighter capable of endgame knockouts at any moment.
Cutelaba is a different type of fighter. He’s an effective grappler but lacks Lins’ level of efficiency when it comes to scoring takedowns; though in his last outing against Kelly Anundson he scored one which resulted in a guillotine choke takedown but wasn’t able to capitalize.
In this fight, victory will depend on who can land more significant strikes and end it quickly with either a knockout or TKO. Both fighters possess incredible talent when applied at the appropriate times and maximized their chance for success.
