UFC London will feature an array of captivating fights this July 22, but one sure to catch fans’ eyes is Jai Herbert and Fares Ziam’s light-flyweight matchup – one which could prove extremely entertaining for fans and fighters alike. Fares Ziam of France currently trains at Kill Cliff FC in Venissieux and boasts an impressive 13-4 record in his MMA career so far. Dubbed “Smile Killer”, his height and reach give him a distinct advantage against Herbert who stands shorter. Additionally, Fares has proven to have great submission abilities with three finishes coming via knockout or decision.
In the UFC, Jai Herbert (12-4-1) has faced many killers and had a crazy ride. He was defeated by the following contenders for the title, Ilia Topuria, Francisco Trinaldo, and Renato Moicano. Nevertheless, he has displayed flashes of his talent by defeating Kyle Nelson, Khama Worthy, and now Ludovit Klein, who he recently drew with.
He challenges Fares Ziam, a promising boxer. After defeating Michal Figlak during UFC Fight Night 209 in the presence of supporters in his native France, he now has a record of 3-2 in the UFC. Terrance McKinney submitted him following that, which means he is now eager to start having a go. Although Ziam had difficulty in breaking into the top half of his division early on, he appears like an ideal choice against Herbert to turn things around.
Jai Herbert and Fares Ziam will square off at London’s O2 Arena on July 22. Both men are highly talented strikers, but Ziam should hold an edge with his grappling and greater size advantage; although both fighters boast high finish rates with close, competitive fights likely taking place – if it goes the distance this bout should make an enjoyable spectacle to be enjoyed by all.
