After sweeping his first two bouts for the UFC, William Gomis returns for a third. He won by decision twice against challenging opponents like Jarno Errens and Francis Marshall. Gomis is looking forward to his first fight because he wants to show off his striking and get a knockout. Gomis is 6 feet tall and can throw a 73-inch jab.
So far in the UFC, William Gomis has done well despite facing some tough competition. He comes from a traditional Muay Thai kickboxing background and is a skilled striker. He’s quick on his feet and equally adept at throwing punches and kicking.
Even though he doesn’t have a lot of strength behind his throws, he makes 40% of them count. Gomis has excellent defense, blocking major attacks with an 80% success rate. He is aware of the damage he takes in a fight and uses this knowledge to his advantage.
This Saturday, Yannis Ghemmouri makes his UFC debut against William Gomis. Ghemmouri’s original opponent, Caolan Loughran, was also making his professional boxing debut, but now he faces a much more formidable opponent. He has a perfect 3-0 record in Brave CF, and he won his last fight with a flying knee, so perhaps he can give us a show against Gomis.
French prospect Yanis Ghemmouri, representing Brave CF, is making his professional debut tonight. He possesses excellent boxing skills while calling himself a “kickboxer.” In France, though, he honed his jiu-jitsu and wrestling skills for use in close combat.
Ghemmouri is a formidable opponent on the ground thanks to his strength and ability to pin down his foes. But he doesn’t do much, so he can easily take the upper hand by simply resting on top. Ghemmouri will need to keep himself occupied and hit ground targets if he wants to have any impact on the scoreboard against Gomis’s active scrambling.
