Preview & Predictions: Martinez vs Yanez 10/14/2023

Game Preview

Fight Preview

This Saturday at UFC Vegas 81, bantamweights Adrian Yanez and Jonathan Martinez will square off in the Apex in a fight that merits a spot on a pay-per-view. Two extremely skilled strikers aiming to establish themselves as legitimate 135-pound contenders square up in this fight.

With an 18-4 professional record, eight TKO/KO victories, and 2 submissions, Martinez is an American MMA fighter. His involvement in martial arts began when, at the age of 14, he enrolled in a Taekwondo class to learn how to be disciplined in ordinary situations. “Dragon” is noted as being 5’8″ with a 70″ reach and prefers to fight from the southpaw posture. Martinez, who is 29 years old, has an impressive strike rate of 4.63 significant strikes landed per minute and only 3.81 significant strikes absorbed. In his UFC career, he has a respectable 69% takedown defense percentage.

American Yanez, 29, has a 16-4 professional mixed martial arts record with 10 TKO/KO wins and 2 submission triumphs. Adrian grew up around boxing because his father had been a Golden Gloves-winning boxer; he entered MMA at the age of 15. In the UFC, Yanez has won 4 Performance of the Night Bonuses and one Fight of the Night award. Yanez is a 5’7″ orthodox fighter with a 70″ reach. He averages a staggering 6.75 major strikes per minute in the UFC, and when he’s in the octagon, he defends strikes with a striking defense rate of 59%. He still manages to defend takedowns in the UFC at 100%.

After starting his UFC career 5-0, Adrian Yanez suffered a round-one K.O. defeat to Rob Font during UFC 287. Before his defeat by Font, the Houston native was regarded as among the top prospects at bantamweight, and a victory over Martinez would significantly increase his chances of cracking the top 10.

In his most recent contest, Jonathan Martinez defeated Said Nurmagomedov and prevailed via unanimous decision. Despite the fact that many expected Nurmagomedov to win, it was a contentious victory nonetheless because it was the FactoryX prospect’s 5th straight triumph.
