Top Predictions for the UFC Fights this Weekend

Robelis Despaigne vs. Austen Lane Betting Analysis

This fight kicks off the prelims of the UFC card this weekend and seems like a pure setup. Austen Lane is 12-5 as an MMA fighter and is 0-2-1 in the UFC. His two losses have been two brutal knockouts, both against bottom-of-the-barrel competition.

Meanwhile, Robelis Despaigne is a legitimate heavyweight prospect who has a 5-1 record. 4 of his 5 wins have been knockouts within a minute. Despaigne has brutal power and is a true one-punch knockout fighter.

After Despaigne lost to Waldo Cortes-Acosta, this fight seems like it was set up to get him back in the win column. Lane is a hittable fighter with a questionable chin, and Despaigne is known for his immense power. This has first-round knockout written all over it.

Prediction: Robelis Despaigne in Round 1 -125

Asu Almabayev vs. Matheus Nicolau Betting Analysis

Oh man, Matheus Nicolau is back again. Nicolau was cut by the UFC after a knockout against Dustin Ortiz back in 2018 because there was worry about his chin, especially in flyweight, a weight class you don’t typically see knockouts.

Nicolau returned to the UFC after a few wins on the regional scene, and he looked good until he faced better fighters. He is off back-to-back knockout losses against Brandon Royval and Alex Perez, neither of which are known for their knockout power. Royval has 4 knockout wins in 24 career fights, while Perez has 6 knockouts in 34 career wins. It’s clear Nicolau does not have the chin to be in the higher levels of the UFC.

Now, he faces Asu Almabayev, who is not necessarily known for his punching power, but it may not even matter. Royval and Perez were not known for their knockout power either and both knocked him out. Nicolau will likely go to sleep again here and we may not see him in the UFC much longer, as he clearly just cannot take the hits. My prediction for this upcoming UFC event is that Almabayev gets a rare knockout here.

Prediction: Asu Almabayev by Knockout/TKO +650

Kyler Phillips vs. Rob Font Betting Analysis

Of all the upcoming UFC fights, this has the craziest line and may be the best matchup on the card. Kyler Phillips is a rising prospect who is 6-1 in the UFC and looks to be improving in every fight. On the other side of the cage, Rob Font is a UFC veteran who has fought the who’s who in the bantamweight division.

Font has fought multiple former champions in the division and has seen it all by this point in his career. While Phillips is improving, it’s safe to say he won’t be able to show Font anything he hasn’t seen before.

Rob Font still has immense power, as he displayed with a brutal knockout of Adrian Yanez last year in April. Font has also been fighting in a lot of five-round main events lately, but this fight will be three rounds, which I think gives him an advantage.

Font is 1-4 in his last five fights, while Phillips is 6-1 in the UFC, which is why we are getting such a big price disparity here. I think this line is too high on Phillips, as he has not been truly tested against a striker like Rob Font before. I think Font will land more damage and win as a big underdog here.

Prediction: Rob Font ML +350
