The Bundesliga is returning to motion this weekend with a new set of games starting on Saturday at Deutsche Bank Park, where VfB Stuttgart will square off against an outstanding Borussia Dortmund team.
3rd in the German Bundesliga standings at the moment, VfB Stuttgart has had a fantastic start to the campaign. The hosts will have to put in a lot of effort to win this weekend after suffering a shocking 2-0 loss to FC Heidenheim during their last match. Between their last league defeats occurred a home win versus Union Berlin within the DFB-Pokal, and since Stuttgart has been battling relegation for the most part of the last few years, their supporters can still reasonably feel happy with the way the season has started. After all, they are still 3rd in the league standings after ten games. Naturally, it is not surprising that Serhou Guirassy‘s injury to his hamstring and Stuttgart’s decline in performance have occurred at the same time. Before being substituted versus Union Berlin in his team’s 3-0 victory in the capital a month ago, the 27-year-old scored 14 goals in 8 league matches. Even a team with more depth than Stuttgart would struggle to replace a striker of his caliber.
Conversely, Borussia Dortmund has been really good so far this season and currently sits in 4th position in the league standings. This week, the Ruhr Valley team easily defeated Newcastle United 2-0 during the UEFA Champions League, and they will be hoping for a similar outcome in this game. For Dortmund, November has been quite a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. On the one hand, they have increased their chances of lifting the DFB-Pokal and making it to the Champions League knockout stages, but on the other hand, they have lost a greater distance on the two teams in the first positions within the Bundesliga. Before an extremely tough run of matchups starts for them on all three fronts, Terzic and his men will be looking to sneak once again into their domestic title situation by defeating Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach in advance of the impending international break.
