Valencia has had a successful start to the new season, putting their relegation fight from last year behind them. On Sunday, they’ll take on Osasuna, hoping for their third consecutive victory to open the season.

Osasuna lost 2-0 to Athletic Bilbao on matchday 2, so they’ll need to bounce back this weekend. They had only themselves to blame for that loss, as Osasuna controlled play and made 18 shots on goal. Despite having seven shots on goal, they were unable to score.
Valencia has won 13 of the previous 23 meetings between these two teams. That includes two consecutive triumphs and three in the last four. They won last year’s March matchup against the same opponent by the same score, 1-0.
Even though Valencia’s previous performance level wasn’t particularly outstanding, they’ve gotten off to a great start this season. It’s possible that Osasuna will finally break their goalless streak this weekend when they face their rivals.
