Osasuna faces Girona at the Estadio El Sadar in Pamplona this coming November 4th for a match that some may consider lopsided but doesn’t seem that way looking at the odds. Girona is currently ranked 2nd in the LaLiga standings and is 4-1 in their last 5 games, having taken victories over the likes of Celta, Almería, Cádiz and Villareal but being unable to score a single goal in their game against Real Madrid at the end of September. Osasuna, on the other hand, is 2-3 in their last 5 games which ranks them 11th in the standings.
Some fans argue that Girona’s schedule is too good but they will flop against real threats. Stats-wise, players such as Aleix Garc[ia, Sávio and Artem Dovbyk have proven to be able to properly Girona forward much more than what the club has been able to in the last few years. One key difference between these two teams is how many goals they’ve scored so far in LaLiga this season. Girona has scored 25 goals, the most of all teams in the league except for Atlético Madrid that is also at 25. However, Osasuna has only scored 12 goals, less than what other teams in the middle of the standings have achieved. In fact, Villarreal, Getafe and Sevilla, all of which are under Osasuna in the standings, have all scored more goals.
Aside from Las Palmas, Osasuna’s offensive prowess seems to be the weakest in the top 11. Most oddsmakers agree that Girona has a 42% chance of winning the match while Osasuna has a 36% chance of winning. However, Osasuna wins 17% of matches with odds close to what most oddsmakers have on them, hence we can’t really expect much from them this weekend. It’s all about how Girona will win for some cappers.
