A new round of games in the 2023–24 La Liga season will take place this weekend, starting on Saturday at the Estadio Mediterraneo when Almeria takes on an outstanding Real Sociedad team.
Real Sociedad has been pretty outstanding this season and currently sits in 7th position in the league rankings. La Real easily defeated Benfica 3-1 in their previous encounter during the UEFA Champions League, and they hope to repeat that performance this coming Saturday. Real Sociedad, who has collected 19 points from 12 games, five wins, four draws, and three losses, has struggled to be consistent in the Spanish league this season. As a result, they are currently ranked sixth in the standings. It appears that the White and Blues will have a difficult challenge finishing in the Champions League spots this season, since they are currently six points below Atletico Madrid, who are in the fourth spot and have a game remaining. Real Sociedad’s last league victory came on October 21, when they defeated Mallorca 1-0. They were defeated by Barcelona 1-0 the previous weekend.
Almeria has had difficulty making an impression in the top division during the current campaign and is currently mired in the bottom of the league’s standings. The home team will need to win this game after suffering a tight 1-0 loss to Deportivo Alaves the previous week. After making a comeback to the top division last season, Almeria ended 17th in La Liga and almost missed relegation on the penultimate matchday. It now appears that Almeria will have a tough fight to remain up this time around. UDA’s last victory over Real Sociedad came in September 2014; they lost both of their league matches against the Basques, including the match by a score of 2-0. Due to injuries, Almeria will once more be missing the likes of Ibrahima Kone, Luis Suarez, Marc Pubill, and Martin Svidersky. Alex Centelles is still questionable because of a muscular issue.
