Rayo Analysis: Comes from a good win against Betis
Following an agitated summer transfer window during which Rayo Vallecano lost both their manager and several key players, the Madrid-based team got off to a strong start this season before a prolonged slump saw them fall down the standings. Their manager then, Francisco, was eventually fired just recently and replaced by 33-year-old Inigo Perez, Andoni Iraola’s former assistant. Rayo managed to restrict Real Madrid to a point in Perez’s opening game, but things soon got out of hand as they went on to pick up a point and one goal from matches against Girona, Cadiz, and Alaves. However, thanks to goals from Florian Lejeune and Sergio Camello, they defeated Real Betis 2-0 just before the March international break. Due to suspension, Florian Lejeune and Raul de Tomas will miss this game. Kike Perez and Aridane Hernandez, among others, will be absent because of injuries.
