The Arizona Diamondbacks will take on the Cleveland Guardians in a three-game series at Progressive Field, continuing their 6-game road trip. The Diamondbacks are in a very tough position as they are battling the Colorado Rockies for last place in the National League West division. As they are currently in the playoff race, it will be interesting to see if Cleveland gets active in the trade market. The team has overachieved with a young and inexperienced lineup but could certainly use another veteran bat to go along with MVP-candidate Jose Ramirez.
The Guardians will kick things off with Cal Quantrill, who is making his 20th start of the season. He is holding a 7-5 record with a 3.97 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP over 111 innings pitched while striking out 71. In July, Quantrill went 3-1 thus and the Guardians have won each of his last four starts.
Zach Davies is going to be starting for the Arizona Diamondbacks today, who is currently holding a 2-4 record. Throughout 15 starts, Davies has a 3.94 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP over 80 innings pitched while striking out 62. He recently spent just over a month on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation.
