The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to bounce back from their latest mini slump where they dropped two out of three games in their series against the Pirates early in the week when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in the first of a four-game series in LA.
The Phillies, who will be coming into this game after winning two of three games in their interleague series against the Mariners would love nothing more than come out of their first game of the series against the Dodgers with a clear upset win, which is why they’ll be counting on RHP Zack Wheeler to deliver a very good outing today from the mound. But Los Angeles, with LHP Tyler Anderson on the mound, doesn’t seem like a team keen on losing a second game in a row, which means that Philadelphia could be in a wind of troubles tonight.

LA’s pitching staff could be taken as the personification of “fire”. They have one of the most dominant rotations in the league, at least the most dominant in the National League for sure, which is why this first game of their series against Philadelphia feels like a must-win scenario for starting pitcher Tyler Anderson, who will be looking for his 4th win of the season, still not having lost a game and having a very respectable 2.78 ERA for the season thus far. It would honestly be a true shock if the Dodgers were to lose tonight in all honesty.
Yes, the Phillies on the other hand beat the Mariners in two of the three games in their interleague series earlier in the week, and while their batting lineup continues to prove that they are as good or better than many others in the league, will they have enough firepower to try and topple the Dodgers at home? While they can give a valiant fight and effort, it’s hard to see this Phillies team taking down LA, at least tonight. Tomorrow could be a different story though.
