Blue Jays Analysis: They acquired Isiah Kiner-Felefa
The Toronto Blue Jays, who advanced to the postseason the previous year, have almost the same roster this year despite a few summer additions. They did add infielder Isiah Kiner-Felefa, who was traded from the Yankees, and 39-year-old Justin Turner, who is coming off a season in which he hit 23 home runs and drove in 96 runs for Boston. This season, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will probably account for the majority of the team’s offensive output. Last season, Guerrero had 26 home runs, the most on the team, and 94 RBIs. With a batting average of.264 from the previous season, he is probably going to stick at first base rather than move to designated DH.
Rays Analysis: They just lost their season opening game
The Tampa Bay Rays lost Game 1 of their season to Toronto 8-2, making them winless overall. After tying the game with a run in the first inning, Tampa Bay was only able to score once more in the remaining eight innings. Diaz drove in two runs for the Rays in the 1st and 6th innings, respectively, with a solo home run and an RBI double. In the game, Tampa Bay managed eight hits, although four players did not register a hit. After Eflin gave up 6 earned runs on 6 hits in his mound debut, the Rays used the bullpen to give up the final two runs. Aaron Civale, who finished 7-5 with a 3.46 ERA and 1.16 WHIP, is expected to start for the team.
