At Citizens Bank Park on Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks will play Game 1 of the NL Championship Series for this campaign. Despite the games being closer than it might suggest, the Phillies defeated the D-backs 4-3 in the regular-season series and outperformed them 44-34. One game was settled by 3 runs, while the other two were each settled by a single run.
This is going to be Zac Gallen’s 3rd playoff start on the mound. In the opening game of the wildcard series versus the Brewers, Gallen pitched brilliantly, allowing only 2 runs over 6 innings to help them prevail 5-2.
The Phillies will send out Zack Wheeler on Monday night. Wheeler has had two outstanding postseason performances. During the wildcard series, he held the Marlins to just a single run in 6.2 innings, and during the Phillies’ defeat to the Braves over the NLDS, he allowed 3 runs in 6.1 innings.
