They triumphed over Guinea 2-0, Cameroon 3-1, and Gambia 3-0. Given that they defeated Egypt in the previous edition’s final, Senegal is among the favorites to retain their championship. They are placed 20 in the FIFA world rankings, while Ivory Coast, the hosts of this edition, and their opponents in the Round of 16 are ranked 49th. They have been scoring a ton of goals as well.
