Despite having a disappointing start to their Africa Cup of Nations campaign, 10-man Guinea was able to hold a tie against Cameroon. Guinea dominated the early pace and received their reward inside ten minutes when, following a scuffle in the Cameroon area, Bayo showed composure and slotted past Fabrice Ondoa, the Indomitable Lions’ stand-in goalkeeper, in place of Andre Onana. The goalie for Manchester United, who participated in Sunday’s 2-2 tie between his team and Tottenham, arrived late for work. Cameroon struggled for much of the game, unable to create many opportunities, and were also without important striker Vincent Aboubakar due to injury. As the conclusion of regulation time drew near, Kone saved Guinea by parrying Karl Toko Ekambi’s close-range attempt and then grabbing the ball. Serhou Guirassy, who has scored 17 goals for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this campaign, was ruled out due to a knee injury, which dealt a severe blow to Guinea prior to the game.
