Analysis & Prediction: Wizards vs Heat 11/3/2023

Game Preview

The first night of the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament features a thrilling Southeast Division clash between the Miami Heat against the Washington Wizards on Friday’s NBA program. Washington remains 1-3 overall and 0-2 away, while Miami appears 1-4 overall with 1-1 at home. The home team prevailed in each of the 4 matches between these clubs during the previous campaign.

The Miami Heat are a dangerous team, especially after they advanced to the NBA Finals the previous year, but they haven’t looked anything like that thus far this season. With 104.6 points per match, their offensive rating of 27th in the league indicates that things can only get better. Nonetheless, the Heat have benefited from point guard Tyler Herro’s skill, who contributes an amazing 26.2 points per game, during their close games so far this season. The Heat’s offenses gain structure from guys with significant experience including small forward Jimmy Butler and center Bam Adebayo. They have been performing fairly well, coming in at 19th place with 44.2 rebounds per contest. Although Dame Lillard has requested a trade to Miami, the Heat are undoubtedly making an effort to move on from the loss of important bench players and the missed chance to add him to their team this season.

On Wednesday evening in Atlanta, the Washington Wizards dropped their third straight game despite the Wizards’ defense putting up very little of an effort. After a quarter of play, Washington led 30–24, however the Hawks offense quickly gained control. Deni Avdija contributed 22 points, and Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points to lead the Wizards. After outscoring the Hawks by 13 points during the second quarter, the Wizards’ advantage grew to 17 points until the Hawks’ lackluster performance in the fourth quarter reduced it to single figures. The new Wizards have had a difficult season to begin, especially with their defense. After placing 17th in the NBA in terms of points allowed the previous season, they are currently worst in the league in terms of points allowed per contest.
