At least on the surface, San Antonio’s brief triumph seems to have vanished as soon as it had been. In a stretch spanning the middle of January and the end of February, the Spurs dropped 16 straight games. The only other time these two teams met, they lost back-to-back games to Denver in November, albeit they were still within single digits in the second game.
In consecutive upset victories over Utah and Indiana, San Antonio finally ended a 16-game losing streak, but after that, it lost two games to Houston by double digits the previous weekend.
