Tuesday, November 29, we have a clash of the titans. The Golden State Warriors travel to face the Dallas Mavericks. It will be a very exciting game as it could be said to be a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals, where Dallas suffered elimination at the hands of the Warriors.
The Mavericks are coming off a losing streak of four straight losses, to Denver, Boston, Toronto, and Milwaukee. They don’t have a bad offense, the real problem is the defense. Before their losing streak they were ranked third in defensive rating, but after this losing streak they dropped to 11th. We don’t know what could be the reason for this change in attitude. As I said, the offense is not bad, in their loss against Milwaukee, star Luka Doncic, had 27 points and 12 assists, only 3 points behind Antetokounmpo, who is the best player in the NBA right now.
The defense will have to come into the game with a focused mind if they want to slow down the Warriors’ tough offense, as they are the number one team in three-point rate.
The Warriors are coming off their third consecutive win over the Minnesota Timberwolves (137-114). It was a crushing victory, they made 57% of their shots from the field and 42% of their three-pointers. As I mentioned, they are the best three-point shooting team in the NBA. The offense was led by Stephen Curry, with 25 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Hopefully the motivation of the rematch will be enough for the Mavericks to have a good game. Although even if that happens, it will be hard for the Mavs to overcome the Warriors who are constantly improving their game.
