Minnesota Timberwolves vs Dallas Mavericks: Analysis & Picks 2/13/2023

Game Preview

Monday’s game between the brand new Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves is a crucial Western Conference matchup. The Timberwolves are 30-29, while the Mavericks are 31-27. Two games between these two teams were split earlier this season in Minnesota.

The Mavericks may have made the loudest noise during the trade deadline, but the Timberwolves also made a significant move. Along with Jarred Vanderbilt, Malik Beasley, and starter point guard D’Angelo Russell, they sent them to the Lakers. In a three-team trade that also involved Utah, they received Mike Conley, Alexander Nickeil-Walker, and a number of second-round picks as compensation.

I’m not sure why they sent off Russell, but Conley is a very excellent point guard, and even though he’s older than Russell, his experience and leadership should be beneficial. Conley participated in Friday’s 128-107 loss to the Grizzlies for the Timberwolves, scoring 9 points and dishing out 3 assists. With a season scoring average of 24.7 points per game, Anthony Edwards added 17 points.

Let’s check the latest picks, NBA news, stats and NBA expert picks for Timberwolves vs Mavericks. We’ve plenty of NBA predictions for you to consider.

You might have heard that the Dallas Mavericks shocked the public when they negotiated a deal with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire Kyrie Irving. A future first-round pick, two second-round picks, and Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith were all traded by the Mavericks. The Mavericks won their first two games with Irving in the lineup, but on Saturday night in Sacramento, they dropped their first game with Luka Doncic and Irving in the starting lineup, losing 133-128 in overtime to the Kings.

Doncic picked up 27 points of his own, while grabbing 9 rebounds, and assisted 5 times. Similarly, Kyrie closed up with 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. With 33.4 points per game, Doncic leads the NBA, and Irving scores 27 points per game on average. The Mavericks are 22nd in points scored per game, though now that Irving has joined the team, we should see an increase in those offensive numbers, which should result in more games covering the spread.
