On January 29, the Washington Wizards (8-37) visit Frost Bank Center to conclude a two-game road trip versus the San Antonio Spurs (10-36).
After ending a 6-game losing streak with a 118-104 victory over the Pistons in their last game, the Washington Wizards will be feeling much better. The Wizards have been in a serious slump, having lost 12 of their last 14 games overall. The Spurs finished the season with a 10-36 record and are currently 16 games behind New Orleans for the top spot in the Southwest Division. They were 13.5 games behind the Jazz for the final spot in the play-in tournament and 16.5 games behind the Suns for the last Western Conference guaranteed postseason spot. San Antonio was behind by 13 points after the first quarter, 12 points at the half, and 10 points after 3 quarters against Minnesota. In order to overcome permitting Minnesota to shoot 57% for the game, San Antonio won the rebounding battle 39–32 and shot 54.8% from the field, including 13 of 30 from three-point range.
