The New York Knicks (9-7) host the Charlotte Hornets (5-10) on November 28 at Madison Square Garden.
After losing 130-117 to the Magic in their last game, the Hornets ended a two-game winning streak. Forward Miles Bridges recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and 23 points, shooting 9 of 17 for the team while guard Terry Rozier contributed nine assists and 22 points. The Hornets’ point differential of -30 means they have very little chance of advancing to the next round. If they can win this game, though, they could ruin things for a few teams. LaMelo Ball couldn’t manage to put any weight on his injured ankle, so it is unlikely that he will play tonight. As a result, Charlotte will have to work a little harder to defeat the Knicks. Ball is averaging 24.7 points, 8.2 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game so far this season. If Ball is unable to play, the Hornets will look to Gordon Hayward, Bridges, Rozier, and Miller to help make up for his lost production.
Meanwhile, the Knicks were defeated 116-113 by Phoenix in their last game, thanks to a 3-pointer made by Suns guard Devin Booker with just 1.0 second left in the fourth quarter. Despite Jalen Brunson’s excellent performance, which included 35 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, the Knicks were defeated. They will need to play at a slightly faster tempo against a team like the Hornets, so it is imperative that they maintain their offensive intensity right away. After falling short of scoring 20 points in his first six games of the season, Julius Randle has scored a minimum of 20 points in 9 of his last ten games including 28 points in their loss against the Suns. When he produces at least 20 points this season, the Knicks are 6-3.
