On January 29, the Phoenix Suns (26-20) and Miami Heat (24-22) face off at Kaseya Center.
The Heat’s recent bad run got even worse in their last game following their 6th straight defeat. They were defeated by the New York Knicks, 125-109. Jimmy Butler, who added 28 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, gave the losing team a boost, and a much needed one. Bam Adebayo recorded his 24th double-double of the year, and Duncan Robinson added 19 points off the bench. The Heat was unable to stop New York’s outside shooting, though, as the Knicks shot 17 of 33 from 3-point range. The Heat trailed 10 at the half after giving up a 12-2 run to end the first half. Late in the 3rd quarter, Miami mounted a comeback to tie the game, but Julius Randle‘s game-winning 3-pointer ignited a 16-3 Knicks run that put them down 13. The rest of the way, they never got any closer than ten.
The Phoenix Suns, who lost to the Orlando Magic 113-98 in their last game, will now try to win their next game versus the Miami Heat, another team from Florida. The Suns’ season record fell to 26-20 after they were held to fewer than 100 points for just the 3rd time this season. For the past 3 weeks, Phoenix has mostly been playing at an exceptionally high level, despite the back-to-back losses. Before their current losing streak, they had won 7 straight, 4 of which were away from home. The Suns’ big three have also looked good lately, especially Booker and Durant, who have both had some extremely successful scoring nights lately. However, given that this is the team’s 3rd game in the previous 4 days and the 2nd leg of a back-to-back, fatigue may play a role. The Suns can’t take this game for granted as the Heat could easily get a win here.
