Compared to last year, when they were ranked last with 3-point attempt rate, 19th in rim rate, and 2nd in midrange attempt rate, this is a significant improvement.
They should continue to be effective offensively here because the Magic won’t have their finest rim-protector, Wendell Carter Jr., available. Their shooting quality has significantly improved. Without Carter Jr. available to assist the Magic, the Hawks ought to have an advantage on the offensive boards.
This season, the Magic have largely performed as predicted. This club is off to a good start (4–3), but in the coming weeks, they will likely suffer without Carter Jr. He is a talented NBA center who is perhaps among the top ten and who can do it all on the floor.
The Hawks are ranked 22nd in terms of opponent rim rate allowed, making this a respectable matchup for the Magic attack. The Magic should be able to take advantage of this shortcoming as they rank 3rd in offensive rim rate. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner can deliver strong performances and lead the Magic’s offensive load because the Hawks lack strong defenders that can compete with them.
