The No. 6 Houston Cougars (7-0) meet the Xavier Musketeers (4-3) on December 1 at Cintas Center.

After winning 7 straight games in double digits to start the season, Houston is once again appearing as a contender for the national championship. The Cougars have defeated Dayton and Utah in addition to winning five games against teams that are radically inferior.
In their most recent game, Xavier faced up against Oakland and returned to the losing column. The Musketeers lost 78-76 after falling down 43-42 at the half and failing to rally. In the losing effort, Desmond Claude finished with a team-high 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Thus far this season, Xavier defeated Saint Mary’s at home in an upset. In addition to outscoring the Gaels in the second half, the Musketeers were ahead by 10 points at the half and won 66-49. With 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, senior guard Dayvion McKnight led Xavier’s quartet of players who scored in double digits. The Xavier Musketeers pull down 34.9 rebounds every game and surrender just 27.1% of shots from beyond the arc.
