The Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-11) are set to face off against the Kansas Jayhawks (16-4) on Tuesday at Allen Fieldhouse. The game is scheduled to start at 9 pm Eastern Time.
The Jayhawks have faced difficulties when playing away from home, but they have been invincible in their own territory, emerging victorious in all 10 games. Although KU had trouble defensively, they completely dominated the Cowboys in Stillwater, defeating them by a staggering 24 points. Kansas displayed exceptional shooting accuracy, with a 62% field goal percentage, while Oklahoma State struggled at 40%. Additionally, the Jayhawks outperformed the Cowboys by 10 rebounds in their first encounter this month, which provided a plethora of second chance opportunities for Kansas.
The Cowboys have achieved a commendable feat by scoring 66 or more points in 4 consecutive games, and they have even aimed for 70 or more points in 8 out of the last 12 games. Although the Cowboys may not consistently accumulate a high number of points, they will certainly secure their fair share in most matches. Unfortunately their defensive discipline has consistently gone down throughout the season, with their players being visibly confused while defending the perimeter.
Home crowd will be a crucial factor for this matchup, with Kansas being extremely inconsistent on the road. Even though they might look like favorites this time around, the Jayhawks are what we consider an “all in” squad. Meaning, if they wake up on the right foot we expect them to demolish their opposition, however there have been instances where they don’t simply show up as they normally do.
Ultimately we do think Oklahoma State has a small chance of suppressing the Jayhawks early on, with their energy tanks still at full capacity. Nevertheless, that energy is gonna run out by the second half where Kansas should capitalize and take this one home.
