Marquette Analysis: Top-20 team in defensive efficiency
When Marquette enters the tournament, many questions remain. The Golden Eagles have the balance necessary for becoming a championship squad because they rank among the top 25 teams in terms of both offensive as well as defensive efficiency. They also have a fantastic tandem in center guard Oso Ighodaro, an all-around wrecking ball, and Tyler Kolek, among the top pick-and-roll creators in the country. Kam Jones, a junior guard, adds another scoring punch to help the two. The issue is that Kolek has an oblique injury that kept him from the Big East tournament, so he is already hurt going into the tournament. The club is capable of going far if Kolek stays healthy. If not, it’s likely that the Golden Eagles might get ousted early.
Colorado Analysis: Top-25 offensive team
This season, Colorado had trouble being consistent, but the Buffaloes have a ton of talent. For Colorado, KJ Simpson serves as an electrifying guard. This season, he nearly averaged 20.0 points per contest while maintaining strong shooting percentages. Furthermore, Simpson has good passing ability. Tristan da Silva and Cody Williams, two forwards, are equally outstanding. Da Silva is an incredibly talented scorer with the ability to dominate games. Williams also appears to be a lock to be selected in the lottery of the 2024 NBA Draft. Williams is the sibling of Oklahoma City Thunder’s Jalen Williams. On paper, there aren’t numerous squads that can compete with the Buffaloes. According to Bart Torvik, Colorado was also in the top 25 teams in adjusted offensive efficiency and among the top 40 in defense efficiency. Colorado is thus depicted differently by the metrics than by the team’s seed. Additionally, this is among the top 3-point shooting teams throughout the country.
