The Boilermakers, who were 17-3 in the Big Ten during the regular season, come into this game with a 29-4 overall record. Purdue had an early 8-2 lead over Wisconsin but was even at the half. The rest of the game was close, with neither team taking the largest advantage until the end of regulation, when the scores were level at 66. With 46 seconds remaining in OT, Purdue had a three-point lead, but lost after giving up the final 4 points, including the game-winning jumper with 8 seconds left.
