Rider Analysis: Lost their 3-game winning streak
Rider’s 3-game winning streak was broken as their late comeback attempt against Iona was narrowly unsuccessful. After finishing 5-6 in conference play, the Broncs’ overall record dropped to 8-14 and they were tied for eighth place in the MAAC. Rider dominated by as many as 7 points versus Iona in the 1st half then fell behind by as many as 8 points before the teams were level at 38 at the break. The Broncs trailed by 13 at the half after giving up a 15-2 run to begin the 2nd half. With 8:21 remaining, the rider had already lost up to 24 points before staging a rally. With 32 seconds remaining, the Broncs were still behind by 8, but they closed the gap to one before time ran out.
Fairfield Analysis: 3rd place in MAAC
Fairfield defeated Manhattan at home, ending a 2-game losing streak. With a 7-4 conference record, the Stags advanced to 13-9 overall and are now tied for 3rd place in the MAAC, 3 games behind Quinnipiac for the top slot. Fairfield trailed Manhattan by as many as 8 points at several moments throughout the first half, but they managed to close the deficit to 6 points at the break. With 9:20 remaining, the Stags were down by 4 points, but with 5:24 remaining, they had a 14-0 run to take the lead and go up 66-56. Throughout the remainder of the game, they kept the Jaspers at four points or less, and eventually won the game.
