The Cyclones entered the competition having won the Big 12 Tournament handily, with a close victory over Houston in the championship game. The second-seeded Cyclones defeated South Dakota State, ranked fifteenth, 82-65, to win their 28th game of the season. The 28 victories match this Cyclones squad for the second-highest win record in the school’s history for an individual season. The Cyclones, who are scheduled to play Washington State on Saturday, are poised to make their Sweet 16 showing. With 29 victories, a Big 12 Championship, plus a Sweet 16 appearance, this squad will undoubtedly go down as one of the best in school history.
Washington St Analysis: Isaac Jones is leading the team
After defeating Drake 66-61 in the East Region first round, the Washington State Cougars remain among the 32 teams that are still in the NCAA Tournament. Even though the Cougars’ win was not artistically pleasing, they accomplished sufficient to continue on. Sporting a double-double of 20 points as well as 11 rebounds, Isaac Jones led the way and helped the Cougars pull off the victory late in the match despite a terrible shooting performance. With 25 victories so far this season, the Cougars will take on Iowa State in hopes of securing a trip to the Sweet 16.
