Every team knew they needed to win the conference tournament in order to advance, as the MAAC conference would always receive one bid to the NCAA Tournament. Despite having identical 12-8 league records to the 3, 4, and 5 seeds, Saint Peter’s was only able to secure the fifth seed in the tournament through tiebreakers. In the semifinals and finals, Saint Peter’s overcame Quinnipiac, the top-seeded team, and Fairfield, the second-seeded team, to earn their spot. They won the championship game behind the scoring of forward Corey Washington, who finished with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Six foot six sophomore Corey Washington, who was recently named to the MAAC First Team All Conference, is their leader.
Tennessee Analysis: Dalton Knecht is leading this team
In the SEC, which received 8 bids to the NCAA Tournament, the Tennessee Volunteers emerged victorious in the regular season. Despite their disappointing performance in the conference tournament, they had a fantastic season. The best player on the Volunteers, Dalton Knecht, was recently selected by the Associated Press to the First Team All America. In addition, he was the SEC’s Player of the Year and a clear choice for the First Team All Conference.
